Essential Oils (EO)
Essential oils (EO) are pure plant fragrances obtained most often by a process known as steam distillation. The end product of the distillation process is a pure, natural and undiluted Essential Oil. The parts of the plant used to distill Essential Oils can vary. It’s common for Essential Oils to be obtained from the leaves, bark or roots of a specific botanical. The term botanical refers specifically to plants. Essential oils will "oxidize" over time and lose their therapeutic benefits, but they don't go rancid.
The most common way to purchase an Essential Oil from Diddlelydeets is in a ¼ ounce
(2 drams) vial of 100% pure Essential Oil. Essential oils have a concentrated aroma and therefore need to be diluted before being applied to the skin. Essential Oils should never be applied to the skin as 100% pure.
Some common ways of using Essential Oils:

1. As a Body Oil mixed with Carrier Oil
2. As a Massage Oil mixed with Carrier Oil
3. Aroma Diffuser (see diddlelydeets diffusers)
4. Added to Soaps
5. Added to Body Lotions
6. Mixed into Bath Water
Diddlelydeets Goat Milk Soaps & Lotions can be made with Essential Oils. It is necessary for you to request for Soaps or Lotions to be made with Essential Oils. Massage Oils are always made with Essential Oils. Diddlelydeets can mix essential Oils as a Body Oil for you or we can sell you the ingredients to mix it yourself.
How are Essential Oils diluted?
Carrier oils are used to dilute Essential Oils prior to the application process. The carrier oils “carry” the essential oil onto the skin in a diluted fashion. Essential Oils should never be applied to the skin directly undiluted.
Some common vegetable carrier oils are Sweet Almond, Apricot Kernel, Grapeseed, Jojoba, Sunflower, and Peanut Oil.
Carrier oils have a limited shelf life and this means that over time they might develop a disagreeable scent. This indicates the oil has become rancid. Once rancid the entire mixture will need to be discarded. It’s best to mix smaller batches to avoid waste.
Carrier oils come from the fatty portions of seeds, nuts, kernels. These carrier oils impart very little of their aroma to the essential oils.
We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the safe use of essential oils. Some Essential Oils are highly caustic and could burn the skin if applied 100% pure.
Essential Oils Mixed with Carrier Oil or 100% pure come in 2 dram vials and prices vary per the specific EO. 2 Dram vials = ¼ oz..
